One morning in New York, Ron Arad was eating a donut. As he looked at its flattened shape with the hole in the center, an idea suddenly struck him. The simplicity of the donut, with its continuous curve, inspired him to transform it into a sofa. He immediately called Patrizia and said, “I got the idea.”

From this intuition, Victoria & Albert was born— a sofa that evoked the symbol of infinity, a sinuous ribbon that seamlessly connected the seat and backrest in perfect continuity. The name, a tribute to the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, where Ron had a retrospective in 2000, reflected the connection between art and design. The shape of the sofa, seemingly endless, was not just a seat but a sculpture that evoked movement and fluidity.

Mangiafuoco is born from copper, which, like a canvas, awaits transformation. But not by brushes and paints, rather by fire. This is how the table comes to life, during the firing process, when the vitreous powders melt under high temperatures, creating an explosion of incredible colors and shades.

The copper retains its metallic essence while simultaneously transforming into a visual marvel: from the warm tones of reds and oranges to the deep blues and greens that seem like mysterious shadows suspended in time.

Inspired by the spare simplicity of the traditional Japanese futon, this sofa evokes the appearance of a thick padded mattress resting upon an upholstered wood base. The refined, quilted motif delimits the generous seat cushion, embellished by the sartorial detail of hand-made toggles in nuanced shades of the upholstery. The design is characterised by the dynamic alternation of different thicknesses and heights, mimicking an urban skyline, an architectural composition created from harmoniously contrasting materials, finishes and volumes.

Moroso is participating in Heimtextil 2025, the international trade fair dedicated to home, furniture, and contract textiles, taking place from January 14 to 17 in Frankfurt.
Within the “among-us” installation, designed by @patricia_urquiola, Moroso showcases Gruuvelot, Mushmonster, and Giano, hybrid seating pieces that reinterpret textile design as a transformative medium. Spanning 650 m² at the heart of Hall 12.0, the immersive installation blends design, sustainability, and conviviality, redefining textiles as a tool for transformation.
